Kelly's Battle to Victory
Kelly recently received the news that cancer has once again reared its ugly head. After battling colon cancer successfully back in 2015, the news came that the cancer has not only returned, it has now spread into multiple lymph nodes. As you can imagine, the news is not only devastating to hear, but also provides its own set of challenges.
Starting on Monday, June 21, Kelly will be starting a long journey at Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s with her first chemotherapy treatment to start on Tuesday, June 22, and consultations with radiology and surgeons soon thereafter.
Ron, Kelly’s husband, had his own health concerns and suffered a stroke back in February and as a result, used up a good portion of his vacation and sick time with his recovery. He is now needing to be home with Kelly to aid in doctors’ appointments, treatments and overall supporting her. As a result, he will not be able to be at work. As you can imagine the monthly bills will and are mounting up quickly.
Kelly has dedicated her life as a mother to six wonderful daughters and has relished being a grandmother. As she fights this battle and plans to win as she did before, she and Ron need our help. Thankfully during Ron’s absence from work, they can keep their medical insurance through the Family Medical Leave Act. They do however have to pay the normal cost associated with this as if Ron were working. Housing, groceries, insurance mentioned above, and just normal living expenses are needed now. The next 12 weeks will be crucial in Kelly’s treatment plan and Ron wants and needs to be there for her.
I know that so many of you have experienced the love and friendship of Ron and Kelly over the years. It’s our time to give back. I know that it is difficult for them to even ask which is why we firmly believe that God will have people step forward to help during this difficult time. Please donate what you can and most importantly, we are asking you to share this with your entire social media audience as the need is great, but the love and support given will be even greater! There are strangers out there that want to help. Thank you for your support and we ask for your prayers as well.
