Dear friends and family:
Many of you are already aware of my current health issues and I have recently learned from all my doctors and specialists that I will require a liver transplant, and possibly a double-lung transplant, within the coming months.
I have struggled with this health condition for years and, unfortunately, my condition has only become worse as I grow older. Now, I am at a stage whereby there are no simple fixes or remedies to my condition. In medical terms, I have a condition known as ALPHA1 antitrypsin deficiency. This disorder is a hereditary disease and it specifically destroys your liver which, in turn, damages your lungs completely. Additionally, I also have Severe Heptapulmonary Syndrome. This is syndrome involving a shortness of breath and hypoxemia caused by vasodilation in my lungs due to my liver disease.
Although I could share so many hardships and distress this has created for my family and I, the result is that without definitive medical interventions in Toronto, my future does not appear promising.
Despite seeking Government financial assistance, the costs of travel to and from Toronto, in addition to months of having to rent an apartment there, we are in no way able to accommodate the extraordinary costs necessary to manage this vital treatment plan through to completion, without assistance. Respectfully, it is never easy to ask others for help, but, it is even more difficult to accept that help is needed. It is my hope that I will be able to continue the medical plan advised by my medical professionals and ultimately receive a new lease on life.
Your thoughtful and generous donations to assist me in this life-saving endeavour is appreciated more than any words can possibly describe. On behalf of myself and my entire family, thank you so very much for your kind consideration and your willingness to support us during these most difficult times.
We look forward to a day when health and happiness completes our family once again.
