Kelly Spencer's Memorial Fund

My name is MJ Yoon, and this memorial fund has been created to help support Pat Bergman, the husband of my best friend of nearly 30 years, Kelly Spencer.

 

Kelly Spencer passed away on Sunday, 20 March 2022, at the age of 43, after being diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2021. I was blessed to be able to spend all of the previous Saturday with her, reminiscing about our high school days and beyond. Although she lost her ability to retain her short-term memory early this year, Kelly was exactly as she has always been - witty, grateful, with an ever positive attitude, and the ability to make me laugh, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

 

The past 6+ months have been incredibly difficult for Kelly’s entire family, particularly her husband, Pat. I was blessed to be part of their wedding over 15 years ago and have been friends with them as a couple for nearly two decades. Through their ups and downs, they always found a way to grow together from each experience and appreciate each others’ contributions to their marriage.

 

Adapting to this new "normal" life without Kelly will continue to be an incredibly difficult process for all that loved her. For Pat, Kelly being the love of his life, this grief may feel insurmountable at times. My promise to Kelly is that I will continue to do my best to support him in any way that I can.

 

As part of that support, I have established this memorial fund dedicated to Kelly in the hopes of alleviating some of the financial burdens Pat has been and will continue to face while grieving for his beloved wife. The past few years have been particularly difficult for everyone due to the pandemic and the residual effects. So I hope that this request does not feel in any way an obligation. But any donation - however big or small - is much appreciated.
