On Wednesday the 11th of August, Kelly was struck by a truck while crossing an intersection in downtown Boise. She was visiting the city with her fiancé Mitchell and his family in preparation to go on a trip celebrating Mitchell's parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Thankfully she had immediate care from Mitchell, his brother, and other bystanders and was transferred 5 minutes away to a level two trauma center. She was immediately assessed and taken into emergency surgery for internal bleeding due to a lacerated liver. This surgery was over 4 hours long requiring huge amounts of various blood products. She also suffered a broken femur, broken ribs and multiple contusions. Miraculously her head CT showed no head injuries for which we are incredibly grateful. Since then, Kelly has undergone several more surgeries but continues to improve and show tremendous strength and positive attitude despite the pain and frustrations that accompany such an event.

We are organizing this GoFundMe in order to alleviate some of the financial burdens for Kelly and her family as they navigate the upcoming weeks and months. It is uncertain how long Kelly will need to remain in Boise as she continues to improve and gain strength. Both Mitchell and Kelly's mother Jeannine are staying in Boise and alternating visiting days due to the strict COVID visitation regulations. During this time, our hope is that they can use these funds to help cover their essential expenses as they support Kelly in her battle, as well as the hospital and rehabilitation bills that will come in time.

We also want to acknowledge that financial contributions are not always possible and there is no pressure to do so. Any cards, texts, prayers, or social media posts supporting Kelly are invaluable to encouraging a steady recovery.
