Facing Eviction, Kelly Hicks Seeks Art Commissions

Hi, my name is Kelly Hicks, and I am a visual artist. I enjoy what I do and strive to make it my primary occupation. Specifically, an oil painter. As some of you may know, I have struggled to make this art thing work for years. It's the one thing I do well. Many people have supported my efforts, and I appreciate the help they have given me.

Certain world events over the past couple of years have caused the cost of living to rise -- COVID, war, famine...but personal circumstances in the last few months have made things especially difficult for me. Slow work disintegration and mainly a broken hand have kept me out of work in recent weeks, just as I thought things were going to improve.

I am here on GoFundMe to try and reach out and find new customers who usually would not know about me or my work. Time is of the essence because others depend on me, and I have already expired debt. I must dig out of outstanding debt and build an emergency savings fund in case of future problems.

Let's talk about pricing. Generally, one of my one-foot-square panels sells for $600, and an 8-inch by 8-inch panel sells for $300. I always ask for a 50% deposit, but since

this is an attempt at fundraising (work-raising); I will consider any donation of less than $150 an installment if you wish.

Suppose there are enough small donations in the $20 to $150 range, and those folks do not have a particular preference for owning a painting. In that case, the printing company I use suggests making a small batch of greeting cards or calendars from my pictures as a reward. I think it's a great idea.
