Kelly was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease in 2012, and fought a long and courageous battle throughout the progression of the disease. Her husband Ed left his job to become her full-time caregiver, and had been by her side for the past 8 years. Her condition rapidly declined at the end of January of this year, as she took seriously ill, had to be hospitalized, and was never able to come back to us the way she was. She spent the month of February in the ICU at Cleveland Clinic, then the month of March and part of April at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA. finally landing at a skilled nursing facility in Andover, OH. Since mid March, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Ed was not able to be by her side as he had been throughout her illness, which undoubtedly took a toll on both of them. Kelly had been sent out from the nursing home for care many times in the past 5 months, but never for anything too serious, and was never gone for more than a couple days, often returning the same day. This trip at the end of August was different. She had developed a very serious infection which caused her blood pressure to drop to a critical level, and then ran into other complications, as often happens with this horrible disease. The disease robbed her of the critical tools needed to fight this latest illness, and she peacefully and painlessly slipped away from us on Sunday, September 6. Due to Ed being the full time caregiver for Kelly, we have no funeral arrangements prepared for her. We are seeking any generosity you are willing to provide to assist in giving Kelly a proper burial after her long and courageous battle.
