Kelly Abe Resection Project ft. DMC #ResectionDMC

Kelly Abe, aside from being an incredible artist and musician, is my oldest friend, and I love him like a brother. For the past 8 years he has suffered tremendously, battling CANCER and the repercussions of his surgeries. He has endured irreparable physiological damage that requires daily attention, and is no longer able to work. The journey has left him in a chronic state of pain which is tempered only by his family (including 2 young children), and the fulfillment his musicianship has nurtured (a silver lining that I seek to magnify with my fund-raising plea).
Resection is a project Kelly Abe has developed through his song writing and studio recordings that is his attempt to speak to and support those suffering the repercussions of battling and/or surviving life-threatening disease. He’s placed particular emphasis on that group of individuals who, notwithstanding their survival, struggle with depression, isolation, and/or suicidal thoughts. The music speaks to various different groups and niches, including the extreme metal and hardcore communities, listeners of everything from hip hop to trap to dubstep to urban pop, and most importantly to those struggling with severe mental and/or physical illness.
One person this music has spoken to is the legendary Darryl McDaniels (DMC of Run DMC fame) who immediately supported Kelly Abe’s efforts upon a first listen of Resection’s reinterpretation of the Run DMC classics “King of Rock” and “Down with the King”. DMC is now collaborating with Kelly Abe (#ResectionDMC) on a remix version of his song “King,” which will not only lead to the release of the track on all major streaming platforms, but will be featured on a major album release and a streaming television series. They are currently working on a music video for the song and are in talks about further collaboration.
With that said, in order to make this effort a success, Kelly must be able to build some momentum leading up to the release of “King” and, most importantly, have a catalog of music videos ready to be released in succession to the “King” debut.
It is my intention to, with your help, raise enough money that Kelly can complete enough music videos to cover most of, if not all of his current cache of 13 songs. That way he will not have to worry about being unable to seize the moment.
Suffice to mention it is also Kelly Abe’s intention to start a not for profit at some more stable point in the future, targeting as the beneficiaries the same audience he’s attempting to lift in his music. This has truly given rise to a mission inside of him. Cancer seems to affect us all either directly or indirectly, and I, for one, would love to see Kelly succeed and frankly, lift up those around him and those to whom he has touched with his music.
I’ll close by adding the fact that Kelly is a professional by trade and a natural leader who has a plan and a purpose (as many of you know from his past stretch of visibility with his feature on MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest representing his band Sicks Deep). Squander has no place in his orbit and I know he will make this work if we enable this next step by being the springboard he needs to finally break through a ceiling he’s been dancing on all of his life. It’s amazing how our darkest struggles can lead us to the brightest places.
Help me support Kelly Abe on this path, along with DMC for Resection's success #ResectionDMC - a project with the potential to uplift people around the world, in perfect alignment with DMC's well known philanthropic efforts for the sake of those in need. Happiness and health are not forgone conclusions of survivorship. But the admission of that fact is often received publicly with a perception of ingratitude - and that makes being honest about mental illness very difficult for suffering survivors. Help Kelly Abe shed light on these hidden torments.
