Kellsie's Road to Freedom: Support Her Van
Hi,
My name is Kellsie and I'm raising money to purchase and adapt my first handicap van. One that I myself can drive. In 2014 my life changed forever, and i'm now a C4 quadriplegic. After many years of hard work, going to physical therapy, learning how and what to adapt to make things work for me, I'm finally in the process of learning how to drive with hand controls so I can get my license and drive again!! As of the last ten years I've had to resort to public transportation, which I'm very grateful to have had. It does come with a downside though, such as often missing appointments because they didn't show up or arriving late to them because I was picked up late. Not being able to go anywhere but doctors appoints. No recreational stops at all. I've dreamed of driving again for ten long years, just to feel the freedom of being able to take myself places again. My van will need very special (and expensive) modifications, an automatic side ramp that I can use from my key fab, hand controls, and an automatic lock down for my chair to lock in place, just to name a few. I'm so looking forward to feeling complete again, to go visit my family in St. Louis whom I haven't seen in 8 years, to go out to eat, to go to the store, to do all the things I once took for granted... but NEVER will again. Please help if you can I will forever be grateful. I won't let this injury define or confine me.. Kellsie will drive in 2025!!!
