Kellie Wiethorn’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
On Monday, June 17th, 2019, my mother, Kellie Wiethorn, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Due to an abnormality that was noticed, my mom went to the doctor for what we assumed would be a normal check-up, but the doctor expressed concern for what my mom showed her. Our doctor advised my mom to get a mammogram, and once at the mammogram, those doctors concluded she needed to have a biopsy.

The biopsy results showed that my mom has Invasive Ducto-Carcinoma. The biopsy results also showed us that the cancer tested Progesterone negative, and HER2 positive.

Progesterone is a hormone that the cancer uses to help it’s growth, so if that was positive, the doctors would have been able to give my mom a pill to stop her hormones, which therefore would have assisted in stopping the cancer from growing any more. HER2 is a protein that some cancers test positive for, and this protein enables the cancer to grow at a faster rate and be more aggressive than other types.

Due to these test results, it was concluded that my mom will undergo 4 rounds of chemotherapy prior to her surgery. The chemo will be done first with hopes that the chemo will stop the growth and/or spreading of the cancer prior to surgery. My mom will do chemo for most of the summer with surgery hopefully being in the fall.

My mom owns her own house cleaning business and does not have anybody employed underneath her, so any time that she needs to take off of work will add to her stress when it comes to paying bills. My mom will inevitably need to take some days off of work during chemotherapy, and it is expected that my mom will be out of work for at least 6 weeks when she has her surgery.

We do not know the current stage of the cancer and we will not be able to know that until she has surgery. At this time, we are unsure if the cancer has spread anywhere, so we are really not sure when the end will be in sight or how long my mom will be out of work.

My mom has always lived her life working hard and often worked two or three jobs to make sure I could play the sports I wanted, she was always at all of my sports practices and games, and was dedicated to making sure I was a good student. I want to do my best to make sure there’s one less thing she needs to stress out about while she goes through this process.

Any donations that are received will be used to pay my moms household bills, help with groceries, and any medical costs that insurance will not cover.

If you are unable to donate, please share this link anywhere you can and please keep my mom in your prayers❤️

I will keep everybody updated as much as much as possible through this process and thank you for all of your support.

❤️Amanda.
