Kelli Dillon has one of the biggest hearts that I know. She and her husband have two little girls between the ages of 4-7, and over the last 6-12 months have been fostering two baby boys whose mothers had abused drugs while pregnant. They were just cleared to officially begin the adoption process for the boys, and couldn't be happier.
A year and a half ago, Kelly had to have brain surgery due to fluid building up in brain that was giving her incredible headaches. It was limiting her ability to do anything and, with a big family, was making it really hard to be present with her kids. The surgery placed a shunt in her brain to drain the fluid and allow the pressure that was building up to release so she could find relief.
The surgery was supposed to have fixed the problem for a long time. However, just a few days ago the pressure and pain came back, and the doctor said they would need to have an emergency surgery to fix the problem again.
Even more, this year they were supposed to take their kids to Disneyland for Christmas, and had to abruptly cancel their plans to accomodate this emergency surgery.
Presently, because (thankfully) they haven't had any problems this year, their insurance out of pocket has not been met yet and they will be left with a large amount to pay back. In addition, any medical expenses that will be incurred after the first of January will now reset their deductible again.
With four mouths to feed, a large medical bill would make life really tough. I'm hoping that we can raise $5,000 to help them begin to tackle some of the expenses they will face on the road to recovery.
