August of 2018 I had noticed a lump in my left breast, thought nothing huge of it... boy was I in for the surprise of a lifetime. A surprise that will forever shape my life.
September, I decided to make myself an OBGYN appointment to see if it was a cyst. The doctor checked me, proceeded to tell me it was a cyst and to come back in 3 months. Mind you, it was a huge mass 3cm by 1.5cm. I thought it would get drained or taken out because of the pain it was causing, but he just told me to take Tylenol for it. My mother’s intuition kicked in to overdrive and I made myself a mammogram apppintment, I figured it would be fine, seeing I had no genetic history of breast cancer.
Ultrasound proceeded that, with weary eyes they sent me to get a biopsy a few days later. To be confirmed that it was indeed cancer in my left breast, and lymphnodes.
Stage 3, Her+ breast cancer.
An aggressive form of cancer had taken over my body, and had I not used my own intuition who knows what could have happened.
I have 6 chemo sessions in total, to then proceed to breast reconstruction and then radiation 5 sessions a week followed by hormone therapy for a year which should have me in remission by the holidays.
I did however start this “GoFundMe” with the hopes of being able to raise donations to help support myself and my babies, as a single mother things are hard... I have amazing family and an amazing and supportive boyfriend but, I’m no longer working because of the chemotherapy makes it nearly impossible to have a regular life, with a regular schedule. So I have chose to put my health first. This was a hard thing for me to even think of doing because since I was 15 I have worked and worked and worked.
I want to make sure my kids never have to worry about my health or their wellbeing because I was simply fighting something trying to kill me. Thank you for reading my long story!! Here’s to kicking cancers butt in 2019!
Update: My double mastectomy is scheduled for April 25,2019 after some health issues the prior week! Fingers crossed!
