**UPDATE**
We are happy to be able to tell everyone that Spencer was discharged from U of M Mott Children’s Hospital yesterday. While he was there, Spencer underwent a number of test including,, a chest X-ray, echocardiogram, full viral screen, and a nasal scope. It was a lot but Spencer came through it all like the tiny trooper he is! Thank you all for your continued prayers & support.

Hi Everyone,
As many of you know last Friday, our daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Jim Keller welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Spencer James Keller, who was 3 weeks early. Unfortunately, Spencer experienced respiratory problems and was immediately taken to the Infant Special Care Unit at Providence Hospital.

At the same time, Lauren was experiencing a severe postpartum bleed, which required immediate doctor intervention to control. This was yet another issue in what had been an extremely physically draining pregnancy due in part to a severe case of hyperemesis gravidarum - an extreme form of morning sickness that had her vomiting up to 5 times a day. Lauren was sent to the ER on 9 different occasions for extreme dehydration, headache, light-headedness, and weight loss. She was also being closely monitored due to preeclampsia. Because of these issues, Lauren had more than 30 prenatal visits when the average in the US is 10.

Spencer wasn’t released from the hospital until Tuesday, April 15th. The very next day, however, Spencer had additional respiratory issues and was admitted to U of M Mott Children's Hospital. The doctors are running a battery of tests to find the underlying cause – it’s a lot for a baby who is less than a week old.

To add insult to injury, Lauren lost her job shortly after disclosing her pregnancy, leaving Jim as the sole breadwinner. However, Jim is caring for their daughter, Heidi (who is not quite 2 yrs old), while Lauren stays with Spencer at the hospital. Jim has also been running back & forth to the hospital to provide support for Lauren’s & Spencer’s medical issues. So, he has also been unable to work.

As Lauren & Jim try to remain focused on the needs of their growing family, they can’t help but be anxious about their ever-increasing pile of unpaid bills.

Lauren & Jim are truly grateful for all the continued prayers, love, and support they have received from everyone. This GoFundMe has been set up to help ease the financial pressure on them as well.

With Gratitude and Love
