Hi, my name is Kelisha, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help — but my family and I are facing a life-changing medical crisis. I was diagnosed with CADASIL, a rare genetic condition that affects the small blood vessels in the brain. It can cause stroke-like episodes, migraines, and long-term neurological damage. This condition is deeply personal to me — my mother passed away from CADASIL on July 5, 2025. Watching what this disease can do has been heartbreaking, and now I am living with the same diagnosis.
In September and early October, I was hospitalized after experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Then, on November 10, 2025, I suffered a stroke that left me with double vision, constant tingling, and stiffness on my right side. Since then, everyday life has changed dramatically. I cannot safely be home alone due to the risk of falling or sudden complications. Because of my condition, my husband has become my full-time caregiver while also caring for our children and trying to find stable work. This has created an enormous emotional and financial strain on our family. He is doing everything he can, but navigating caregiving, parenting, and employment at the same time is incredibly difficult.
We are trying to relocate closer to family in California or Texas so we have a support system during medical emergencies. When I am hospitalized — which can happen suddenly — we need a trusted family nearby to help care for our children while my husband stays with me. Right now, we are facing these challenges without the support system we urgently need. Funds raised will go toward relocation costs, housing expenses, and the transition needed to move closer to family support. This move is about safety, stability, and ensuring our children are cared for during medical crises while I continue managing this condition. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us during this difficult chapter.
