Kelby's Legacy

We are deeply saddened to be building a memorial fund for Kelby following his tragic passing. At 18 years old, we shouldn't have to be saying goodbye already. We choose to honor his legacy by recognizing his nobility, his kindness, and all that he was while he was with us on this side of Heaven.

Kelby will be remembered by his bright smile, which warmed everyone blessed enough to see it. He was affectionate, full of life, and dedicated to loving and protecting his family. Kelby was known to bring laughter and cheer into any space he entered. His goal was to let his people know they were loved.

Kelby and his twin brother Kolby were proud to be KIPPsters. His mother is forever grateful for the lessons, experiences, mentors and love the boys received throughout their time at KIPP South Fulton Academy. As twins, the Martin Brothers were always together, often playing too much, and taking up for each other. Kolby wants everyone to know he loved his brother, and misses him deeply. Kolby and Kelby are bonded brothers, and watching them learn, grow has been a blessing for all of us who taught them.

Though Kelby at times struggled, he always worked hard to use his many skills and talents to find his passion. Kelby loved animals, good food, wrote poetry, rapped, got involved in mechanics, thrived boxing, loved going to the gym and was a natural performer with all the charisma in the world. Kelby was many things, and above all, Kelby was real.

We are asking for support to cover the associated costs of Kelby's memorial service and to provide comfort to the family by alleviating any financial stress while his beautiful sisters, loving twin, devoted mother and grandmother grieve and focus on taking care of each other. Kelby prioritized others over himself. He absolutely loved and adored his mom. It didn't matter if you knew Kelby for 18 minutes or all 18 years of his short life, you KNEW Kelby loved his people and I know Kelby would be deeply grateful for any support you could offer. We are hoping to honor his family-oriented spirit by taking care of them in the only way we know how at this time.

Thank you for remembering our precious Kelby.
Thank you for loving him.
Thank you for doing as he did, by taking care of his family.
