Keith's Fight: Cancer and Eviction Struggles

Donation protected
My husband was diagnosed with a rare cancer, stage 2 cholangiocarcinoma , October 10th of 2023. It has been hard, not only dealing with everything that comes along with cancer, but the financial burdens as well. He has been through two chemotherapy treatments, and a treatment in Knoxville which hurt his kidneys causing him to be on active dialysis three times a week. He is currently not going through any treatment because not only has his body rejected every treatment we have tried, but he is so tired and isn’t strong enough or capable of trying anything else at the moment. He hasn't been on any treatment in over a year, and is now stage 4. He has been through so much in the last two years, between treatments, trips to Knoxville, dialysis, and everything in between dealing with side effects. As his wife and mother to our kids, I have tried my best to take care of not only his well being, but our kids, and everything else that comes along with it. Right now, I have reached a point to where my pride doesn’t matter and I need help. I have gotten help before in the past from the cancer center he goes to, my coworkers, even from my children’s school and I’m so grateful and always will be. Things have gotten worse this year as his cancer grows and gets more aggressive. Multiple hospital stays, missing work, trying to take my kids to work, figuring out which bill I can push out just to put food on the table for my kids. It’s been a struggle, and I am begging for help right now.

I was served an eviction notice on Friday, May 23rd, and I have until June the 13th (our court date) to pay the full amount or we will have to move. We have nowhere else to go, and are not prepared in the slightest to move. The beginning of this year, we were told we would get help by a certain organization while Keith, my husband, was in the hospital a lot, and honestly it was something I didn’t worry about. I thought it was handled. While I was there by my husband’s side, working full time and taking care of my kids, I thought my rent was taken care of. Then funds got frozen, and then was told by the lady over our case that they couldn’t help us. The lady on our case prior had it approved, but retired shortly after, which caused a lot of commotion and they apparently couldn’t help any further. Which I understand, life happens, but now it has caused us months being behind on rent and I don’t know what else to do. I have reached out to other organizations and I’m either put on a waitlist or they don’t help in my area. If you cannot personally help, please reach out to those who can and I thank you. If you can personally help, I also thank you so much. I don’t know how else to ask for help, but my pride means nothing compared to a roof over my children’s head and the well being of my husband. Anything will help right now. Thank you so much.
