My name is Keith, and recently, I was hit with an unexpected financial crisis: I had to pay an unexpected, large medical bill which used all of the money I had for upcoming September rent, utilities, and groceries. I am disabled and am fighting cancer while dealing with long-term COVID issues.

If I can get these handled, I should be on track to be okay for October onwards as long as my health holds up (no more unexpected medical costs), but until then, I need to ensure my rent and utilities are paid. To that end, I am looking for assistance.

Due to my cancer, I am unable to work. I have stage 4 cancer with tumors in my spine, chest, and legs. Additionally, prior infections with COVID have left me with lasting debilitating issues with my lungs, heart, and kidneys.

How will this help you?

I could expound on the issues of how the U.S. government and healthcare system fails us (and especially the disabled) when we are in need, but I think that's apparent to most. Instead, I want to address what I require help with, which is to ensure my rent and utilities continue uninterrupted in September so that I and my cats (Misaki and Miyu) do not lose our apartment nor the ability to use our utilities. To do that, I need to raise $1500 for rent by August 27th, 2025 (because of the lag time for GFM to transfer money with a weekend and Labor Day), $200 for groceries by September 5, 2025, and $400 for my utilities by September 13, 2025.

Do you have other bills to worry about as well?

I have increased medical copays coming up for some medications, so I would accept any assistance with those, but right now my day-to-day needs are very modest, so I only need help with rent, utilities, and groceries.

How will the funds be used?

Any funds raised will go directly to those three items, beginning with rent and then utilities, then groceries. My apartment complex has immediate late fees beginning the third day of late rent, and eviction begins the seventh day, so paying in full right away is the best to hope for. If there are any funds beyond that, they will be held just to try and build some relief against anything else unexpected and for any increased copay costs.
