On June 13, 2020, Keith underwent an 8-hour surgery of a double lung transplant. Upon the completion of the surgery, his surgeon declared it a success stating, "Keith now has a beautiful new set of lungs."
Several years ago, Keith was diagnosed with sarcoidosis which is an incurable disease. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body, but mostly the lungs and lymph glands. Initially his condition was manageable with medications, special treatments, and an alternative natural diet. Unfortunately, in the past couple of years his condition worsened becoming extremely challenging. With what seemed like endless hospitalizations and various treatments that rendered to be ineffective along with the deterioration of his lungs, a double lung transplant became his best option. His best option and opportunity to live life in a way to do what he is most passionate about, sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ.
As Keith embarks upon his new journey, much of his life will vastly change from what he once knew and lived. As it relates to his health and medical treatment, he is now required to receive all of his medical care at Cleveland Clinic (main campus downtown Cleveland) consisting of some weekly and bi-weekly visits, he’s required to take multiple maintenance medications for the rest of his life, special equipment is needed in the home to monitor the health of his lungs and a large portion of his recovery time will require hands on caregivers. In addition to his out-of-pocket medical expenses for the actual transplant surgery, the aforementioned things along with miscellaneous items such as traveling expenses to & from doctors’ appointments, parking fees, and any relative essential needs, can quickly add up. In effort to ease some of the financial burden of these expenses and show support, we are asking you to be a blessing to the longevity of healthy living of Keith’s life.
Keith is grateful and appreciative of any amount contributed and pray that God blesses you endlessly for your generosity. Peace and blessings to you all.
NOTE: Keith understands many of you would like to communicate with him directly; however, this down time is crucial to the success of his recovery. He is asking you to please be patient with his recovery process, know that he is thinking of you and looking forward to rejoicing with you about the goodness of the Lord.
Peace and Blessings to you all.
