On April 21st, 2020, my dad, Keith Tilghman passed away from Covid19 complications. Wow, that is a sentence I never thought I would ever have to say. For those who knew my dad (and that is a lot of people) you know how selfless, outgoing and personable and how full of love he was. He was not only my best friend, but the world's best dad. Some of my best qualities I got from my dad; sense of humor, resilience & strength & I have had to use those qualities more in the last week than I have in my entire life but he has equipped me well. 3 days before he died, he called me from the ICU and was very delirious but he managed to say two full sentences. The first was a very sentimental explanation of his love for me which I would like to keep private. However, the second one was his desire to be cremated. I have created this for that very reason. My dad spent the last 26 years working his butt off making sure I had any and everything that I wanted in life & the least I could do is return the favor right now.
I have picked a cremation service and am making arrangements however, I simply do not have the money. There are a lot of financial obligations I am responsible for on his behalf now (hiring a company to disinfect his car, storage unit for his belongings, etc) but this is one that is the one I am focusing on the most because it would make him happy. I also plan on, in the near future, purchasing a headstone for my dad at a nearby cemetery so that myself and others have a concrete place to go sit and visit with him. Lastly, as soon as it is safe to do so, I will be planning a memorial to have all of our friends and family share in celebrating his amazing life.
Anything that can be donated will be going towards those three things and would be very much appreciated. Thank you all so much and continue to stay safe!
