Hi, as you may know by now, Keith Mann passed away early on Christmas morning, after a short illness. Keith led a remarkable life that from start to finish was dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in our society, from the animal kingdom to our fellow humans. This focus was literally his life and extended into his home life. Keith served two prison sentences as an animal liberation front activist. The first sentence in 1994 of 14 years, reduced to 11 years on appeal, was the longest of its kind at the time. The second sentence in 2005 of 18 months was for a raid on Wickham Laboratories where documents were retrieved that exposed the lie that cosmetic experiments had been banned. Keith knew this approach for him had a sell-by-date and it was at this point he concentrated his energy solely on legal avenues to driving change in society. This included authoring two inspiring books and a brief and rather unconventional approach to political campaigning.
He was the most remarkable carer for his disabled wife, Alice, and later also for his dear mother, in her final years, right up until her passing 12 days prior to Keith’s departure from this world. Keith now leaves behind Alice and their rescue dog Luka. Alice has been completely blindsided by what has happened, they were totally unprepared for a funeral. Alice has received an initial quote for Keith’s funeral of £7975. This includes: funeral directors fees for a funeral £3515 (including provision of a coffin). Temporary grave marker £60. Service fee £350. New grave: £2000. Internment cost: £1800. Officiant’s fee: £250. Total estimated costs: £7975.
That is why I have started this fundraiser, to assist with funeral costs and take a little bit of the enormous pressure off her at this traumatic juncture in her life. It would mean everything to Keith that his deeply beloved wife was supported while she struggles with the magnitude of her loss.
Thank you for taking time to read, share and donate if you are able.
