Many of you know Keith Kroes as an ILWU local 514 foreman. He was a generous friend to many, both on the waterfront and off.

Some months ago, Keith got diagnosed with an extremely rare aggressive cancer.

Like the strong, stubborn man he was, Keith fought hard, even knowing the odds were stacked against him. He underwent extremely painful procedures, including amputation, to stay as long as he could for his family.

Tragically, this kind, honest man lost the battle on January 6, 2026. He leaves behind his wife Paula and his 13-year-old son Phillip, who were his world.

Keith was the provider for his family, and while the emotional loss to his wife and child are devastating, they are now also facing the future with financial uncertainty.
