Help Keith Kick Cerebral Palsy’s Butt
Donation protected
Keith was born with a condition called Right Hemi-Paretic Cerebral Palsy. This causes the muscles on his right side to be weaker than his left side. He was also born with white matter on his brain and he has developed another condition called Poly Micro Gyria which means he has more wrinkles on his brain than a normal person which makes him more susceptible to have black out sessions and seizures. As you can tell by the photo, Keiths right hip is completely out of socket. This has caused his leg to turn completely inwards causing him to limp very significantly and he cannot put his right foot flat which means he walks on the ball of his foot. Our only option in fixing this is surgery. The surgery is called: preximal femeral osteotomy pelvic estectomy. It is a 3 hour surgery where they will have to cut on his bone and insert plates and screws. He will be in the hospital 2-3 days. He will not be able to walk for a minimum of 6 weeks so he will be confined to a wheel chair. After the 6 weeks and providing no set backs, he will began extensive rehab. Because of his CP this will happen again in 15-20 years with or without the surgery however, without the surgery he could be disabled in less than 5 years.
Chris carries good medical coverage on Keith however, for a surgery and rehab of this degree, it doesn’t cover a lot. All of the copays for his hospital stay, surgery, follow up visits, rehab/physical therapy, prescriptions, home health care etc that we will have to pay for out of pocket will be in the thousands. Keith and I also have to move to a first story apartment which will incur fees as well.
For my family and friends who are not local and have asked how you can help, here is how. For our local friends and family who will not be able to attend any of the fundraising benefits, here is how you can help.
Chris, Keith and I appreciate everyone who has reached out to us to show your love and support and we are grateful for any help we can get. Thank you so much for loving and supporting our little boy❤️
