Keith Aston's Medical & Recovery Fund
Donación protegida
Hi, my name is Elaine (Aston) Lankford and I am fundraising for my brother, Keith, who went in to have surgery at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 8, 2023. Though initially, the goal was to have surgery and return home within two weeks, Keith had some medical complications arise postoperatively which have caused him to remain hospitalized since surgery. We are currently uncertain of a release date, but when that day comes, his recovery at home will be lengthy and require several follow-up visits at UVA Medical Center. It will also require his wife, Margaret, to take extended time off from work.
Keith's current medical issues have been longstanding, starting in February of 2023. They stem from past medical issues when Keith was a child. Keith has a very complicated medical history which started in 1978 when he began receiving treatment at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk. During his childhood, he underwent several major surgeries related to his digestive system, one in which he suffered a bile duct (duct that leaves the liver) injury. Fast forward some 45 years later, surgical scarring from those past surgeries had wrapped around that very bile duct and was closing it off, making Keith very ill starting last February. He has been in and out of the hospital since last February, trying to resolve the issue through outpatient procedures at Duke University, however, a complex inpatient surgery at UVA Medical Center became necessary in December.
Since his hospitalization, Margaret has had to remain in the Charlottesville area and has been unable to work.
As you can imagine, available finances are becoming tight and they could use a hand with household expenses, certain uncovered medical expenses, current and future medical supplies as well as current and future travel/lodging expenses until Keith is home and fully recovered.
Therefore, I ask with all humbleness that you show them the love of Jesus in this most trying time by lifting them up in prayer and supporting them financially on any level you are led to give to Keith's ongoing care. They would be sincerely grateful for your support. May the Lord bless you in your giving!
I will be sure to update the page often and let everyone know when we finally have Keith home.
