Hey, I’m Keira, I’m 18 years old from Wigan, and I’ve recently been offered a place on the CertHe Musical Theatre course at Mountview in Manchester starting in September!
This offer truly means a whole lot to me. Being from Wigan and growing up in the North is a massive part of who I am. Opportunities like drama school don’t always feel as easy to get when you’re from up north, especially coming from a working-class background, and it can feel like everything is centred around London. That’s why getting this place means so much to me. It’s not just about doing what I love, but proving that people from places like Wigan can do it too. I’m so proud of where I’m from and my accent too, I think it’s what makes me, me. I just want the chance to train, grow, and show that where you’re from shouldn’t hold you back.
The Mountview foundation year will give me the intensive training I need to improve my skills and prepare for auditions for degree programmes next year.
Unfortunately, because Mountview is an independent drama school, student finance does not cover the full tuition fee. After the funding available through student finance, I still need to raise £3000 in order to accept my place.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards my tuition fees and helping me begin this exciting opportunity.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting my journey
