Help send Keira to Excel Hockey Academy

A letter from Keira's parents


Dear Friends,

First I would like to thank you for your interest in assisting Keira, and the financial obligation associated with attending “The Excel Hockey Academy”. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for her!   

However, to make it happen we need to raise $19,500 by July 1st. We are hoping that you will be able to please donate any amount today via this page. 

Recently we received a phone call from the director of the academy, Brian Mueller, to formally extend the offer to Keira to attend the academy and billet in Cranberry, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh). 

The academy starts on the first week of August. 

 Keira has made the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite girls U16 hockey team. 

This is a Tier 1 AAA hockey team that competes at the highest level in the United States and Canada. These girls are being scouted by division 1 and Ivy league schools such as Harvard, Yale, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Boston College just to name a few. Keira is well known throughout this small hockey community and depending on who you ask, Keira is somewhere between 3 and 7 in the country in her age group (definitely top 10).

Her ultimate goal is to play in the Olympics some day and represent the United States.

Keira’s short term goal is to make the U.S. National U18 women’s team.  

This acceptance to this program will help to prepare Keira for her journey. 

Keira had a very successful year playing with Belle Tire U14 girls AAA this year, they competed for nationals but were beaten by the Penguins team that Keira will play for this year. 

Keira is the 6th child of seven children that my wife and I have. She is the 4th hockey player in the family and the only girl to play because the other 3 are her brothers. Keira has a 17 year old brother who will be playing AAA hockey with the Dallas Stars Elite this year and a younger brother that plays Tier 2 AA hockey. Keira also plays on the high school varsity hockey team (all boys) with her older brother. Keira is 14 years old and has always been able to “play up” with older players.  

We are sharing this with you in hopes that you will be able to please donate $5,000, $1,000, $500, $250, $100, or any amount today via this page.

Without assistance Keira will not be able to accept this offer because the $19,500 is insurmountable for us alone and that is why we are asking for your help today.  I would like to thank you for your interest and success of our daughter Keira.  My wife and I are both Gulf War Veterans (Marine and Navy) and we teach our children to work hard, do the right thing, and always persevere. We will continue to move forward in a positive way to prepare Keira for her journey and destiny. We thank you in advance for helping make her dreams a reality!
