It’s amazing how life can throw a person a personal foul and take you places you never expected to be.
On June 8, 2019, Keir Kimbrough, age 50, a devoted husband, loving father of two sons, and Pootu to his adorable grandson Jordan, age 5, went to the emergency room with severe shortness of breath. Almost a week later Keir was transferred to ICU where he was intubated for two days. The doctors diagnosed Keir with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This diagnosis has been devastating to Keir and his family. Keir is the primary provider to his family and now with limited income due to short-term disability there is a financial loss to the family.
Keir is very prideful man and those that know him, know without a doubt that he would be very reluctant to ask for any assistance. Anyone that knows Keir would vouch that he is the most loyal of friends, very generous, funny, outgoing, and caring. Keir is currently on oxygen 24 hours and in continues to as much as he can, he will be off work for 3-6 months. Living with a chronic lung disease is emotionally and physically challenging and Keir’s condition is a long slow process to overcome.
Keir is an inspiration and is always upbeat with his condition. He’s also known for his undeniable passion and love of coaching football and inspiring the youth. His former athletes always keep in contact with him as well. The condition he has now will sideline him from coaching, most likely he may never coach again, which is devastating to him to say the least.
Keir is showing progress, but again very slowly, this is something you cannot rush. The disease must take its course. Prayerfully, with the new medication (Cell Cypt) he is currently administering we will see increasing progress moving forward.
Currently, Keir will only receive 60% of his current salary while on short-term disability, in addition, he must pay for his medical insurance out of pocket. On behalf of the family, I am requesting financial support for his continued treatment and time away from work. Let’s make this one less thing Keir and his family have to worry about.
We request your financial support in any amount to help in all aspects of Keir’s treatment and recovery. We ask that you please keep the Kimbrough family, especially Keir, in your prayers for a speedy recovery. We want you to know that Keir refuses to let this disease keep him down and out for long - this is just a ‘delay of game’!
Thank you for your help and support! God Bless.
