To our friends and family:

We are excited to finally begin our journey to a certified service dog. This is a decade-long dream for Keilah, and after significant research over the last few years, we have begun the process.

Having a service dog will allow Keilah to be more independent and contribute more to the household, as well as have more safety and security whether at home alone, or in public.

Specifically, our service dog will be able to help Keilah do things like:
- Retrieve dropped items or pick up items on the ground, or assist in bending chores
- Offer stability while changing positions such as from sitting to standing
- Be more mobile through counterbalance and walking/standing support
- Notify Keilah and/or others of a medical emergency
- Provide deep pressure therapy during or following an episode

We are working with a great local team who specializes in service dogs, and have already put down our deposit.

This will be a long process, but it is one we are committed to and excited about.
