Keila Lorena Perez: Aiming for Miss Florida USA

Hi, my name is Keila Lorena Perez, and I am excited to announce that I will be competing for the title of Miss Florida USA this May in Orlando, as your Miss Pinecrest USA!

With a Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from FIU, an Associate's in Architecture from MDC, and a graduate certificate from Harvard (among others), my academic background demonstrates my consistent commitment to becoming a better version of myself and thus making a positive impact in my community. In the years following the completion of my studies, I dedicated myself to developing my multiple careers in the industry of entertainment & the arts: as an actress (Film, TV, theater), fashion model & visual artist. Last but not least, as a Dominican-born American citizen, it would be my greatest honor to represent my Latino heritage & culture through this platform, as well as to hopefully be able to serve as an inspiration to younger generations.

Ever since I was a little girl, one of my dreams has always been becoming a beauty queen. However, as I was growing up, I turned very shy and although I secretly wanted to, I didn't really feel ready for anything like that (in part, due to the fact that during my teenage years I underwent spinal fusion surgery, to fix my scoliosis, & was a bit insecure about having a scar on my back). I basically focused solely on school, in addition to the internships and jobs I had at the time. In the blink of an eye, time flew by and I realized that I had passed the age limit established by the main beauty pageant organizations. Therefore, I thought that I had to forget about this dream once and for all.

However, nowadays, those rules have changed and, since they are more inclusive, I know in my heart that my moment to shine in beauty pageants has finally arrived. Although I am currently in my 30s, age is just a number to me - my drive, passion, and motivation to chase my goals are simply timeless. I strongly believe that us women are perfectly capable of thriving in each and every aspect of our lives, regardless of our age, and we shouldn't let anybody tell us otherwise.

I hope that one day my story helps to demonstrate that when you put God first, you work hard for your goals, and you truly believe in yourself: anything is possible!!!

As you may know, preparing for a pageant of this caliber involves several fees and expenses - which I am trying my best to cover on my own (and with the help of my family, whose support is vital to me), but honestly I could definitely use a bit more assistance in order to shine at this pageant. Whether it is through sponsorships, contributions, collaborations or even encouraging words, I would be eternally grateful for any kind of support on this journey.
