Hello everyone,
I hate to have to make this, but things have gotten dire despite our best attempts to get in front of our circumstances.
My co-op's client vanished in mid-March, leaving a $2k+ balance owed to my work partner and me. Martin was unexpectedly released from his job at the beginning of April. We do not have the means to legally pursue the co-op client for the overdue amount. As a bonus, Martin's car was stolen last weekend - and while recovered and repairable, we have a deductible that we can't afford right now.
Our emergency credit card is approaching its limit, and our savings are tapped - the most significant obligations are now behind, and we have no choice but to ask for outside support.
We are looking for help with the following expenses:
- Rent: $1,675
- Car payments: $1,800
- Repair deductible: $500
- Car Insurance: $231
- Total: $4,330 (includes GF's fee of 2.9% + .30)
This will prevent us from losing reliable transportation and keep us from facing eviction.
Thank you.
Edit 4/25/23
I can’t begin to express my gratitude for all the support we’ve received so far. Including a few private donations, we’ve reached $1435 so far. GF is trickling the funds based on when the donations clear so it’s a process.
We have an update for everyone. Today we found out that despite the relatively minimal damage sustained, Martin’s car was deemed a total loss by our insurance. Keeping the car and paying OOP for repairs will be too costly, so we are officially down to one car. It will be a few days before we know how much the payout will be and what the remaining balance is on the loan, and how our insurance will be impacted for the rest of the term.
We only have a few days left in April so I’m asking for whatever you may be able to spare. Rent is still an urgent concern and the car payments will be considered late at the end of this month.
Thank you again.
