Keeping up with business costs

Hetepu (greetings!) Nubian Martian is a Black-Woman-owned wellness brand based in California. We specialize in herbal medicine in the form of tisanes, tinctures, and plant-powered hair + body care products. We primarily use ingredients harvested in our home country Cameroon to promote health and prevent or treat various ailments.

INTRO

My name is Ange, and I’m the owner of Nubian Martian. The brand name combines ancestry (kingdom of Kush) and astrology (8H ♈︎ stellium.) I’ve been exposed to herbal remedies since childhood, as I come from an African family who uses medicinal plants to cure and beautify themselves. I began with handcrafting herbal tea blends and smoking blends, eventually adding body care products to my website. I enjoy making daily personal care essentials as alternatives to store-bought items with unnecessary additives. My brand is centered around the power of plants for overall wellbeing.

THE BRAND

My mission is to produce outstanding herbal products made with care, organic ingredients, and eco-friendly packaging. In addition to the blends, I provide tinctures, tooth powder, herbal soaps + shampoo bars, lip balms, body lotion, liquid deodorant and hair oil. I am fully transparent about the formulation of my products, and their efficacy is seen on my face and body. The ingredients from Cameroun are Palm Kernel Oil, Cacao Butter, Cacao Beans and herbs (Neem, Moringa, Bamboo, Soursop, Mango, Papaya & Lemongrass.) My goal is to continue importing from my country in larger quantities, as my people rely on buyers for their livelihood. Cameroon is nicknamed “Africa in Miniature,” so I’m excited to share its excellent Health & Beauty products with you.

FUNDING

I don’t have any staff or business partners, so everything from making the items to the costs of running the business fall on me. It’s been challenging keeping up with operations during these unprecedented Covid times. High-quality ingredients and eco-friendly packaging are far from cheap, but I am committed to keeping my brand affordable. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and directed towards providing effective products free of harmful ingredients at bargain prices. The funds would also be spent on durable packaging, importing goods, hiring staff, launching new products and supplementing inventory & production costs.
