Hi, I am Carly Brandenburg. I am raising money for my husband, Geoff Brandenburg, who was diagnosed with early Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer last September.
Since then, he has entered into long-term hormone therapy, received 28 days of radiation therapy in March and April, and the cancer is now in remission. While Medicare took care of nearly all of the conventional medical expenses so far, Geoff also used alternative IV and supplement therapies through a naturopathic doctor, as well as a powerful ozone/electromagnetic sauna therapy called Hocatt to keep his body as clean and strong as possible while going through the radiation.
These became very expensive over nine months, and he has depleted his savings while going into debt. We are now in the next stage of recovery and need to continue with the same alternative therapies while adding Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments to reduce the tissue damage created by the radiation. This next stage is crucial in supporting Geoff's body to stay in remission. We hope to raise enough funds to cover these expenses through the next year as well as chip away at the debt that accrued during treatment.
Geoff is a well-respected, heart-centered Life Coach and Trauma Recovery Counselor with 33 years of experience making a difference in so many peoples' lives through his Doing Your Work program. Since 2008, Geoff's dream has been to publish a series of books and online healing courses, which are solidly underway with over 500 pages of manuscript written. That dream was interrupted by the traumatic death of his late partner Holly in 2014, and since then has been on hold as Geoff rebuilt his life by moving from Tahoe, where he lived for 25 years, to my hometown, Santa Barbara, hoping that a change of scene might inspire the renewal of his dream.
That hope was interrupted, however, by the diagnosis of prostate cancer and the journey into treatment. In addition to the radiation therapy hopefully killing off all of the cancer at the cellular DNA level, prostate cancer hormone therapy involves starving the cancer of testosterone, and the drugs Geoff is on have done that very well - but at a price. Deep fatigue, depression, and muscle loss are common during and after the initial treatment phase as a man's body learns to live without testosterone for at least two more years after the initial treatment.
Now that Geoff is through the hardest initial treatment stage, during which he has been working full-time, we hope that we might also be able to raise enough funds to allow Geoff to take one week off a month so he can rest and recover more from this nine-month ordeal. With this extra time, we would love to help Geoff work on his dream projects and spiritually heal from the challenge that cancer has created for him.
Geoff has two book/learning journey projects in development that need about a year to be completed:
– "Love & Grief: A Positive Psychology of the Heart"
– "Heart Trauma & the Broken Promise of Love"
These book and online media projects draw on Geoff's successful experience in working with hundreds of individuals and couples over 33 years to guide people into healing and recovering from the deepest traumas any of us go through: the heart trauma, born from growing up in wounded and dysfunctional families, that keeps us from creating successful lives and relationships.
Geoff developed his own approach to healing – the Doing Your Work process – after completing an intensive certification course in Integrative Breathwork and Emotional Healing in 1990. From the start, his work was a seminal and integral part of the new holistic healing movement in the '90s that gave rise to Life Coaching, Positive Psychology, and Somatic Trauma Recovery.

We would love to keep Geoff's dream of publishing his life's work alive and well and to serve the greater healing of people in need. We thank you from the heart for any assistance you may be moved to donate to this worthy cause.
