I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

My sister is 31 years old. She is pregnant. She is a mother to a beautiful 16-month-old little girl. And she has just lost her husband, Steven Bernstein, the love of her life, her partner, her best friend, the man she planned forever with.

Steven Lee Bernstein Jr. “Stevie B” was the most thoughtful, loyal, and loving husband, father, and friend.

His lifelong dream to start and raise a family was just beginning before he was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us. On Christmas Day of 2025, he learned he was going to be a father again, and he was so overjoyed.

He had vast ambitions, endless ideas, and was so dedicated to his family. He touched the lives of all those around him, and everyone who knew him loved him. Only once in a lifetime do you meet an individual like Stevie B, someone who touches your life in ways you could not imagine.

There are no words for the pain of watching my sister live through this. One moment she had a husband and a future, and the next her world was shattered. Now she wakes up every day carrying grief that feels impossible, while still trying to be strong for her children.

The fear and weight she is carrying is more than I can put into words. Along with the heartbreak comes funeral and memorial expenses, bills that don’t pause, a home to maintain, groceries to buy, and children who still need everything from her, even while she is falling apart inside.

My sister never expected to be here. She never expected to raise two children without her husband. She never expected to have to ask anyone for support. But right now, she cannot do this alone.
