Hello Everyone!

My name is Katelyn Skinner and I am writing to you all to help raise funds to support keeping my beautiful mother, Shari, home in hospice care.

About 6 weeks ago, my Dad, Dan, had to emergently rush my mother to Methodist hospital as she suddenly lost the ability to walk and her pain was unbearable. If you know this beautiful human, you know that this triggered a lot of emotion for us all as she has had medical problems over the last several years that have left us all wondering where our Shari went.

Many scans, tests and weeks later- we heard the devastating words “cancer” and “months to live”. Shari was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liposarcoma. She has tumors in her liver, her spine (which compressed her spine and left her paralyzed from the waist down) and her pelvic bone. The tumor that is in her abdomen is the largest and likely where the tumor originated.

Last weekend, we made the hardest decision of our lives and decided to get my mom home and in hospice care so we can enjoy whatever time we have left with her.

Hospice care is wonderful, however, it requires a lot of extra help and private pay services to keep her cared for. My mom is the sweetest, most loving person I know and deserves the world. We have started this Go-Fund Me account to start raising funds to provide the care she needs at home. We appreciate any or all the support we can get for her and appreciate all the kinds words as well.
