Keeping Our Home After a Sudden Layoff

I was recently laid off from my job as a front-end web app developer, and the loss of income came as a complete shock. I had never been given negative feedback on my performance, so this has been incredibly hard to absorb. I was the sole income for my family of four (plus three cats).
We live in my late father’s house, and after my dad passed away (on Christmas Eve 2023), I took on the mortgage here. Since the layoff, we’ve been using a small amount of savings to keep up with bills, and we’re also relying on credit cards. That debt is building, and I know it will make our monthly bills even harder to manage. I was able to get some of my monthly payments temporarily reduced, but most of those expenses will return to normal in December. I’ve been job searching for over a month, and so far I haven’t even gotten callbacks for interviews.
How support will help
First and foremost, donations will help us keep paying the mortgage and cover basic household expenses while I keep looking for work. Having help with those ongoing bills would give my family some breathing room and help us avoid falling deeper into debt as our regular monthly costs return.
If our basic needs are covered, additional support would also help me keep building the free learning and productivity app I’ve been developing so I can turn it into an income stream. That includes the extra development and expense needed to get it into mobile stores and add personal accounts so user data isn’t limited to local storage.
Because these financial pressures continue month after month, recurring donations would make a real difference in helping us keep up with the mortgage and other essentials while I search for a new job and work toward a more stable source of income. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and would help us immediately.
If you’re able to give or share this fundraiser, thank you. Your support would help protect our home, ease the strain on my family, and give me a chance to keep moving toward stability.
