I'm not a fan of this way of doing things, but I'm at the crossroads of getting by and going under. I chose, in 2023, to be a full time Uber driver. This decision was made so that I had flexibility with my time, because my wife is disabled. My wife Michelle has been fighting for disability benefits now for 5 years. Despite her doctors and the government's doctors stating that she is unable to work, she continues to be denied. We were always a two income household, and used be able to keep our heads above water. When I began doing rideshare full time, we were still doing ok. Then came the breakdowns and repair bills. We maxed out credit cards for repairs, and still somehow kept afloat. Somehow we always found a way. Back in October this all changed. My vehicle's engine failed. Still, not ones to look for handouts we exhausted all avenues to get out of this mess. We own our home but our dti is not conducive to home equity options. We have exhausted all routes at attempting to get back on track in the manner that others do, but somehow come up just short like so many people in this country. I have worked hard my entire life just to get by, and I'm alright with that. Now though, I'm out of options. Since my vehicle broke down I've been scraping by, renting vehicles to do rideshare, therefore losing most of my earnings in rental costs. Moving rental payments between credit cards and hoping we can catch a break That route has run It's course. So here I am, swallowing my pride and looking for help on the Internet. I am not asking for money to buy a new car, I am looking to raise money to replace my engine and, more importantly (with that repair), keep my family afloat in these trying times. If this doesn't work I'm not sure where to go from here. I don't know what to expect by doing this, if anything at all, but I can leave no stone unturned in an attempt to survive.
