Help keep my grandpa alive!

HI, I am Markie and these are my cousins and sister with my grandfather, Augusto Payano. I have made this gofundme account because they tell me that my Grandpa needs help since he is very sick and he needs to keep seeing the doctors. You see, the worst news of our lives came when I was born. As I was coming into this world, he was being told that his life was being taken away from him. In 2015, he was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Stage 4 and the irony of all is this is that my Grandpa never smoked a day in his life.  You are probably wondering how this happened to him? So were we, when we received the most devastating news that changed our lives forever!  

 During 1994-2002 he volunteered in the red cross and on September  11, 2011. After the twin towers fell, he put on his boots to help New York recover from all the dust and debris which ultimately led to his illness. He risked his health for people and New York with no regrets but sadly he became one of the many victims that became ill from working during these times. He is a good hearted man; a humanitarian whom served as the president of the parents association in Public School 128 and the parents association for district 6 advocating for the less privileged. He also served as a volunteered basketball coach in the 30th Precinct and a volunteer Little League baseball coach for the Alexis Ferreira and Marichal Little League. 

 Currently, the cancer is covering the left side of his lung and has found its way into the stomach and lymph nodes. Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer and Grandpa being too weak to take on chemo, we are not only consulting with a conventional team but also with a non-conventional team which will not be covered by his insurance or 9/11. Nutrition is also key and fundamental in keeping his immune system strong. Your contribution will help offset some of the food cost, travel cost, living and treatment expenses for a few months and will give my Grandpa a chance to fight this. It is a long road to recovery but also an expensive one.

La nutrición también es clave y fundamental para mantener fuerte su sistema inmunológico. Su contribución ayudará a compensar algunos de los gastos de alimentos, gastos de viaje, gastos de vida y tratamiento durante unos meses y le dará a mi abuelo la oportunidad de luchar contra esto. Es un largo camino hacia la recuperación, pero también es costoso.
