Keeping Kris’s Knockers
Have you ever sat down with a friend and had them tell you they had cancer? That’s what happened last week. After many weeks of Dr appointments, Tuesday, Kris had the difficult task of having her family and friends over or on the phone to tell us all that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I honestly do not know how she made it through telling us, explaining everything she knew and answering all our questions without breaking down. I do not think it had really hit her yet what she was having to tell everyone. Kris is 33, she has 3 awesome kids, a husband. Kris loves being active, working out, playing softball, watching her kids play sports, spending time with family and friends. Kris is always helping and looking out for others wether it is putting together a fundraiser for someone in need or at her job as a child advocate. As of Tuesday, Kris with be having surgery on April 1st with radiation therapy to follow. Her radiation will be 5 times a week for a minimum of 4 weeks. Pathology reports after surgery will determine if she will need more aggressive treatment. Due to Kris being only 33 years old, insurance has not covered many tests and exams leading up to her diagnosis. Thank God Kris chose to pay out of pocket to get these tests and exams done. These out of pocket expenses are the first of many she will continue to incur in the months to come. In addition to medical costs Kris will be faced with loss of income while she receives treatments. Kris is always helping others any way she can, now it is our turn to help her in any way we can.
