The Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site - A Unique Heritage Treasure in Saskatchewan

The Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site, cradled in the hills of southern Saskatchewan, is a splendid example of early 20th century industrialism. The plant remains frozen in time, virtually unchanged since the day it opened in 1914.
But the plant is far more than an industrial site. It is a vital part of Canada’s architectural history. Its bricks adorn some of Canada’s most revered structures, including the Chateau Frontenac, QC and the Gravelbourg Cathedral, SK. The bricks were once even used for rocket launch pads at Cape Canaveral, FL!
The Claybank Brick Plant is managed by a local volunteer group. In spite of its National Historic Site status, government funding cuts have left the seasonal operation of the plant in jeopardy. It is also expensive to preserve the century-old site from natural decay and our local resources have run dry.
