Keeping Ed Sweeney's Giving Legacy Going

The Ed Sweeney Scholarship Fund was formed in 2021 to honor the legacy of our beloved friend Ed Sweeney.

A committee was formed and a 501(c)(3) was established to provide annual scholarships to Bogota residents who are seniors at local high schools.

Ed Sweeney, was a lifelong resident of Bogota, neighbor of Feigel Field, local business owner, mentor, and youth coach.

Ed was a loyal supporter of Bogota Athletics and the Bogota

Community.

Ed served our community as a past Bogota Board of Education trustee, a longtime basketball coach at St. Joseph Academy, and he hosted many students from our Bogota High School internship program at his company New Horizon Financial located in Bogota.

Each year Ed had given a scholarship to deserving Bogota High School seniors who plan to study business. We have created this scholarship fund to honor Ed and carry on his legacy of giving back to the community.

Countless programs in our community have benefited from Ed’s loyal support and incredible generosity. He always wanted to quietly give back because he was simply paying it forward to a community he loved. He sought nothing in return, he just wanted to help others be good people and watch them achieve their goals.
