Combatting loneliness in COVID-19 rehabilitation
Clontarf Hospital is a 160 bedded rehabilitation hospital. During this COVID-19 crisis, the hospital has stepped up and is providing rehabilitation for patients with COVID-19 after their acute hospital treatment. This rehab will help the patients regain skills and abilities they lost when they were very sick.
Many patients after ICU will need rehab to learn to walk again and to wash & dress themselves.
The rehab also helps them transition home again, and to find the community supports to manage at home.
During this time none of the patients can have visitors from family or friends. This is very difficult for all patients and also particularly for those patients living with Dementia.
This fundraiser will buy the necessary technology to support communication between the patients in Clontarf Hospital and their family members and friends.
The team in Clontarf will help facilitate these conversations for patients that need the support to do so.
Loneliness & social isolation is a real side effect of this crisis. Let’s do what we can to combat it.
