For my birthday this year, I am asking you to help me support an older gentleman and his senior dog. I created a fundraiser 2 years ago in order to raise the funds necessary for Ziggy's care, and it is time again to ask for your help.

For those who aren't familiar, Buzzard replied to a foster plea for Ziggy about 4 years ago. It was fairly evident that Ziggy was "home" with Buzzard early on, but as a disabled senior citizen on social security, Buzzard was worried about being able to financially care for Ziggy. I promised him that if he adopted Ziggy, we would make sure that Ziggy's needs were met. Please help me keep that promise!

Ziggy is 9 years old now and understandably, he moves a little more slowly and carefully these days. Peanut butter is still his favorite treat, he enjoys lecturing the squirrels while he is lounging in the yard, and he is quite the social butterfly whenever Buzzard has visitors. Ziggy's favorite pastime, though, is crawling up into Buzzard's lap so they can share an afternoon snooze. He is happy and safe and loved, which is my hope for every dog. Buzzard's and Ziggy's relationship has been a very special one to watch develop over the years and we want to make sure they always get to stay together. This is where you hopefully come in!

Here is what it will cost to take care of Ziggy for one year:

-$410 for annual vet visit & vaccines (this includes a senior bloodwork panel since Ziggy is 9 years old)

-$300 for monthly nail trims (Ziggy has long quicks and does not go on many walks so his nails grow quickly. A vet tech who comes to the house each month and it is $25/visit)

-$250 for monthly preventions (I order these from the same online store I use, which has the best prices I have found)

-$120 for daily glucosamine supplement (cosequin)

-$360 for daily joint supplement (Antinol)

-$240 for Costco dog food

-Total for one year: $1680

Since I am raising the funds for his care for the next 2 years, that amount is doubled: $3360

This may seem like a lot, but those of us with dogs (especially senior dogs) know that it is not cheap to properly care for a dog. Please know that I have done my best to keep Ziggy's costs down.
