Help keep a young person out of adult jail!
Donation protected
AH is a young man who is beloved by his family and community. For most of the past year, he and his family have been struggling to deal with excessive criminal charges against him.
AH was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incidents. Under PA law, the charges were filed in juvenile court, where - if he is found guilty - he will receive treatment and rehabilitation, not jail. The charges against him don’t rise to the level that allows them to be filed directly in adult court - since none of the charges involve allegations of using a weapon. Yet, prosecutors are seeking to transfer his case out of juvenile court and into the adult court system. If the case is transferred to adult court, the outcome could have much more severe, life-long negative impacts on AH and his future.
Our community is coming together to raise funds for AH's family to hire an attorney to ensure that he has high quality representation. His family and Philadelphia’s Youth Hub are working together to raise the funds necessary to retain a new attorney before AH’s next court date. This is an urgent matter, since the next court listing is only weeks away. If you are considering donating, please do so as soon as you can.
AH is a talented, promising young man who is close with his family and who is committed to finishing high school and moving forward with his life. Please donate and share this fundraiser widely to make sure this young man has the kind of zealous, committed representation that all young people navigating the court system deserve.
All funds raised will go directly to the family to hire an attorney.
