Playing soccer as an adult improves overall wellbeing, forges friendships, improves soccer skills and is just plain fun!
Keep women playing soccer in the Ventura Independent Soccer Association by donating today in honor of a soccer player in your life!
Ventura Independent Soccer Association (VISA) is a 40-year-old, year-round, volunteer-run recreational woman’s soccer league in Ventura, California. We play two games on Sunday mornings, with a Fall, Spring and Summer season. Teams shuffle each season and players range in age from 18 to 60+. We welcome soccer newbies and experienced players.
Operating costs are increasing for VISA, and we need donations to supplement expenses for 2025 and beyond. Historically, costs have been passed along to players in the form of registration fees, but unfortunately raising fees still doesn’t cover annual operating costs. We are determined to keep fees at less than $10 per game as fees should not be a barrier for women to play soccer. We have decreased operating costs where we can, including reducing the number of referees to two per game and using reusable jerseys.
Your generous gift will help support the league in many ways and any donation amount is welcome!
$25 donation will cover the cost of one soccer ball or one corner flag
$50 donation will cover the cost of renting a field for one game
$75 donation will cover the cost of liability insurance for two games
$100 donation will cover the cost of field painting for two games
$240 donation will cover the cost of referees for two games
$400 donation will cover the cost of jerseys for one team
VISA History
VISA started in 1985 by three determined women. At that time, there was only a men’s pickup game on Sundays at Balboa Middle School in Ventura where a total of five women participated. Cheryl, Beth and Dottie created the first signups for VISA and formed four teams, which later grew to six. In 2025, we are proud to celebrate 40 years of playing soccer through VISA!
Linda Arthur and Norma Casimiro Sportswoman Award- Each season we present the VISA Sportswoman award to a deserving league player in memory of past players, Linda Arthur and Norma Casimiro. They both lost their lives too early. Their passion, dedication and inspiration on and off the field will forever live on through VISA.
Thank you for your support!
