We have been trying to hold on but with each hit we’ve taken over the past two years it has become too much to bare on our own. February marks 2 years that we’ve been apart of this little community of Sargent, Texas. Our flood calendar has almost 6 moths of combined dates that we’ve had flooding that closed down our launch and almost 3 moths of days where the previous kitchen has taken on water....that alone we could preserve against. Last year was one of the worst shrimping seasons for this area in 40 years as a result.  We have the seemingly never ending lawsuit against the previous owners who openly lied about the flooding on the property, amongst other issues whose tactic is to keep resetting the trial until we are out of funds to fight...even with this, we could persevere. I made it past the medical problems during my pregnancy with Charlotte, and the resulting congestive heart failure I experienced shortly after her birth. Now I’m under the care of a cardiologist, oncologist and neurologist with the preliminary diagnosis of pheochromocytoma/paraganglimoa, they know it’s a neuroendocrine tumor(s) we are waiting on tests to confirm location....and this is the straw that broke the camels back. We need help to stay afloat, for anyone who knows me personally, you know how hard it is for me to say that. We will be holding a fundraiser at the marina a “Catch and Cook” fishing tournament and cook off with live music. Date to be determined shortly., tentatively March 6th and 7th. This will be over the course of Friday evening (captains meeting and concert) through Saturday (noon weigh in, cook off through the afternoon with music to follow.) Any donation of $20+ will secure a wristband for entry on both nights, please add “wristbands” in your donation comment.  Fishing and cook off teams will be $100 entry for Fishing only, 4 man team, $100 entry for cook off both with 50% payback. $25 side pots will have 100% payback, sides on the cook off will have $25 entry with 100% pay back as well. We will have a list of side pots shortly. All side pots will be cash only, the day of the event.
