Keep Usagiと New York alive!
Hello to all our precious customers,
We are a cafe, art gallery and book store located in Dumbo, Brooklyn called Usagiと New York.
"Usagi" [ ooh-sah-ghee ] is a Japanese word for rabbit, a friendly animal that in many cultures is associated with renewal and spring.
"と" [ toh ] means with or together in Japanese, and is symbolic of the collaborative nature of our space. In our name, it is silent.
Over the past 7 years, we have become more than just an art gallery or a cafe; Usagi offers the optimal environment for cross-disciplinary creativity and inspiration by integrating dining, art, and retail.
Under this pandemic time, we face difficulty more than ever, as we can only open for limited time daily and are also affected by the heavy
construction nearby. We are proud of Dumbo's development and want to keep going; however, it is still tricky as construction never ends
and pandemic is still ongoing.
Consequently, because of the limited working hours, our staff are having to decrease their working hours, making it hard to maintain their regular income. Not to mention, our business is still struggling financially each month.
Nevertheless, we believe that by sticking together and supporting each other, we can overcome this extremely hard time. This is a dire and stressful position to be in; we ask for your help.
In these difficult and uncertain times we are reaching out to you, our precious customers, supporters as well as the broader community, neighbors, friends and family, for your help in keeping our small business alive, where people can come to visit and relax in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
The funds collected will be used to help and support our staff, all expenses and outstanding costs, to give us a chance to keep our store afloat amid this pandemic time.
Another way you can help us tremendously, is by sharing this campaign with your friends and loved ones.
We are truly grateful for your kind support to our staff and store.
Thank you, best wishes and be safe.
Usagi, New York
