Our son Kaius was born at 12:45 AM on July 27, 2025—a beautiful, brave little soul. About five hours later, his condition worsened and his care needs exceeded what Mayo Clinic in Mankato, MN could provide. He was quickly airlifted by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for specialized neonatal intensive care.

Thanks to the incredible staff in Mankato, my wife was discharged early so we could drive to Rochester and be with Kaius. We had just enough money for gas to make the trip, but now we’re facing a sudden and overwhelming wave of expenses—lodging, food, parking, medical bills, and lost income—as we stay close to him during this critical time.

Kaius is the youngest of our six children. His two toddler brothers, Emery (2) and Myles (1), are currently staying with friends while we remain here in Rochester. He also has three older half-siblings—Rowan, Caleb, and Elias—who are eager to meet their newest baby brother. We would love to bring them to Rochester when possible, so they can be part of this moment and offer their love and support.

We don’t yet know how long Kaius will need intensive care, but we do know this: he needs us here, and we need help to stay by his side and keep our family connected.
