We are Michelle, Becca and Lilly and on August 24th we will be running 15 kilometres to raise money for an incredibly brave child we work with called Kian who lives every single day with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We are not at all runners. In fact, before starting this challenge we have barely run more than a few minutes, but that is the point. Because what Kian faces every day is far more difficult than any run or any training.

DMD is a rare, genetic muscle-wasting condition that primarily affects boys. It causes progressive muscle weakness, loss of mobility, and eventually affects the heart and lungs. Right now, there’s no cure — just research and the incredible resilience of children like Kian and the families and people around who love them.

When deciding how to raise money we wanted to do something hard. Something that takes real effort and commitment. Training for this 15k as complete beginners will push us mentally and physically but we are doing it because Kian inspires us everyday!

Your donation will go directly toward supporting Kian and his family — helping with specialist equipment and giving him the opportunities and support he deserves. Every penny will make a real, personal difference. Every donation could go towards mobility equipment, home adjustments or travel to hospital appointments!

We are aiming to raise £2,000, and would be so grateful for anything you can give — whether it’s £5, £50, or even just sharing this page with others.

This run is our way of showing Kian that he’s got a whole community of people behind him!
