Donation protected
During the pandemic in 2020 an actor/creative was out of work and started by carving 5 foam pumpkins in October. Some how by Halloween 2020 there were 160 pumpkins in front of his family's house attracting hundreds of people. In 2023, the 4th year, the display had 750 pumpkins and attracted around 1000 people a night.
Every year Ty and his family believed that there should be an option to make a donation instead of an entry fee. This meant anyone could come in and see the display and make memories with their family and friends without worrying about a price. Anyone who attends this pumpkin walk is treated to free popcorn, and a free candy bar or snack, not to mention the soothing glow and atmosphere of the pumpkins.
At the end of each season Ty and his family give the donations to a local organization that they felt benefitted the community. There are hopes to keep the walk going.
Year 5 has become very tricky. With schedules, lack of space, and not wanting to inconvenience the neighbors anymore, the Pumpkin Walk needed to skip a year and look for a space for 2025. Ty and his family are hoping to get an indoor, retail like, handicap accessible, space with a plenty of parking.
With an indoor space weather or the time of day wouldn't be a problem like it has been the past 4 years. An indoor space means the Pumpkin walk could be open even if the weather is not ideal. It means during the day on weekends the walk could be open longer because the lighting can be controlled. Finally, it would give Ty the opportunity to bring in school groups, nursing homes, clubs, organizations, and maybe even host educational classes on pumpkin carving.
Where will the money from this fundraiser go?
Last year Ty and his family spent around $6,000, or more, on the pumpkin walk.
- Added Pumpkins - $2,000
- Candy - $3,000
- Popcorn - $500
- Display Materials (Straw, Corn Stalks, Building Supplies, Lights, etc.) - $1000
We expect the same costs if not more for year 5. On top of that, we will more than likely have to pay for the indoor space.
Whether we reach this goal or not the Pumpkin Walk will happen one way or another and we can not to share all of the surprises that we have in store. Thank you for any gift you may give. It helps us continue to bring people of all ages joy and memories that we hope will last for a lifetime.
