My name is Angela Reyes. My husband is Gary, and our two fur babies are Trigger and Doodlebug.

We are facing eviction; our court date is June 25, 2025. I hate that I have waited until the last minute to reach out for help. I suppose I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I am in this predicament. We have already experienced homelessness. After my mother passed away, we had been sharing a house and rent, and eventually, we just couldn't afford it alone. We lived in a tent for a year before we could get enough money together to get this apartment.

My husband Gary has always been the main breadwinner. However, at the end of April, he had a stroke while at work. He is a carpenter who did remodeling jobs as contract labor. Somehow, he managed to make the 45-minute drive home while having a stroke. We managed to get him to the ER, which left him with some paralysis on his left side. We felt blessed because it could have been much worse. That same day, he had dropped a tool on his right foot, which, in light of the stroke, we didn't think too much about at that time.

After being released from the hospital a week later, we noticed his foot was swelling. It had become so painful that we went back to the ER. They admitted him again. His toe that the tool had fallen on had become infected, and having diabetes, the infection moved quickly into the bone. He eventually had all of his toes on his right foot amputated. After almost 3 weeks in the hospital, he had to come home, and I had to administer antibiotics through an IV for 6 weeks.

This is how we fell behind on rent for 2 months and need to get it paid by July 4th. I recently received a raise at work on the 13th, which will help me with my future rent. I just pray we can get caught up so that I can take care of things, so Gary doesn't have to worry. He has always been such a great provider for us. I don't want to let him down while he continues his journey to heal from these health issues he has encountered.

So, any help we can get will be so greatly appreciated. I just cannot bear the thought of being homeless again and letting my family down.
