Hi, my name is Tricia Jude Moore.
A few months ago, my partner lost her job, and I was placed on unpaid medical leave from mine. Things spiraled fast—we barely scraped by covering rent, food, and basic bills. We were staring down the very real possibility of losing everything.
The good news is: we're working again. Both of us found full-time jobs and we're doing everything we can to rebuild. But the damage from those months of lost income has already been done. We're drowning in back bills and debt and are now in the process of filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
We’ve already been sued once by a creditor but were lucky enough to settle out of court. If another creditor sues us, our bank account could be levied—and we’ll be right back to the brink of homelessness.
Right now, we urgently need help covering our bankruptcy attorney’s fees so we can move forward with the filing. Once it's submitted, all legal actions will be paused, giving us the breathing room we need to get back on track.
About us:
We’re both trans women in our early 40s, living in rural Pennsylvania. I work as a Supports Coordinator (and was formerly an Adjunct Instructor), and my partner works in a full-time call center role. I share custody of my 9-year-old autistic son, Maxwell, who means the world to us.
We’ve always lived paycheck to paycheck, but the past year has stretched us to our absolute limit. Rent is $1,200/month, and with groceries, gas, and bills—there’s just never enough left.
We’re both lifelong nerds—gamers, tabletop enthusiasts—and one of our biggest dreams is to open our own game store someday. But right now, we just need to get through this storm.
Any help, no matter how small, will make a real difference.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, or donating. It means the world to us.
