We are Timi and Sophia, currently engaged and due to be married in a few weeks. Unfortunately, Timi was forced to be financially independent despite promises of support. Her savings have been drained on living costs and rent since moving to NYC. Sophia has been great, obviously: paying for groceries, taking Timi out on dates, buying her layers for the cold months.

We are so so excited to get married, but we are feeling overwhelmed by the high legal fees. Things are already quite strained, and we’d love any support you’d be willing to provide to make sure that Timi can stay with her soulmate.

Timi and Sophia have an international friends to lovers story. In March of 2023, Timi and Sophia went on a trip to Bavaria to celebrate their friend's birthday. The first time they met in person was in the Munich airport and they immediately hit it off, cackling in the rental car line. The two of them had a long car ride into the city center to pick up Nadia, the birthday girl.

On the car ride, Timi, a UK girl, was yapping about how much she wanted to study abroad to get a change of scenery and to experience something new. Sophia, an LA girl who was studying in Europe at the time, was so supportive of the idea.

After the trip was over, Timi returned to London and Sophia went back to Madrid for her final semester. Sophia messaged Nadia and told her that she had a big fat lesbian crush on Timi.

Timi felt strongly about Sophia too, but weeks after the trip she felt quite ill and was later diagnosed with cancer that August. They kept in touch virtually as Timi went through her treatment. To lift Timi’s spirits, Nadia told Timi that Sophia had been crushing on her for months. Timi immediately slid into Sophia’s DMs and said, “Nadia told me that you fancied me, do you know how gassed I am?!”

“I’m going to take you out when you’re in London, when are you free?” messaged Timi.

A month after Timi’s surgery, she was feeling well enough to brave the outside world, which coincided with Sophia touching down in London after graduating from her Masters. To commemorate these milestones, Timi, Sophia, and Nadia went on a night out— Timi’s first in months. Timi and Sophia shared their first kiss on the dance floor that night.

When Sophia returned to LA, they both hopped on a FaceTime that didn’t end for 6 hours. After about a month of FaceTiming for hours on end, while Timi was going through more treatment, Sophia really wanted to come visit Timi in London to see if what they had was as real as it felt through FaceTime.

The next months were spent using all of their air miles and credit card points flying back and forth between London and LA. During that time, Timi received a scholarship to get her Masters in Journalism at NYU. A few months after her program started, Sophia received a dream job offer. In December of 2024, long distance finally ended, and since then they have lived a 5 minute walk away from each other in Bushwick.

On December 6th 2025, after Timi graduated from her Masters, they got engaged. This was always part of their plan, they had been discussing getting married since Timi’s first trip to LA.

Sophia means everything to Timi, she brought her out of the darkest moment in her twenties, and reminded her that life was worth living. As devout Christians, Timi’s parents rejected the relationship from the jump, but Sophia’s unrelenting dedication to Timi’s happiness made it clear that Sophia was her true family. Timi ignited a love in Sophia that she never knew existed. Timi is her best friend, her biggest fan, and her greatest love. Just being in Timi’s presence makes Sophia feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
